Accessibility Statement
My420Love is working toward WCAG 2.2 Level AA so everyone can use it, and we want to hear from you if anything gets in your way.
In plain English
Love is for everyone, and so is My420Love™. Our goal is to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA.
If anything makes the site hard for you to use, email accessibility@my420love.com. A real person will reply within 5 business days.
Our goal
We're designing and building My420Love to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). It's the current standard for accessible websites, and it includes guidance for phones and touch screens. This is our goal and our commitment, not a claim that every page already meets it.
What we're building in
- Keyboard and screen reader friendly. Every feature is designed to work without a mouse, with visible focus outlines, labeled buttons and form fields, and error messages written out in text.
- No swiping required. Like, Compliment and Say hello are always buttons. Nothing depends on dragging or swiping.
- Comfortable tap targets, with extra-large ones for the main actions.
- Color is never the only signal. Each of our seven compatibility colors always comes with an icon and a label.
- Readable contrast in dark mode, light mode and match-my-device mode.
- Motion you control. Our glowing heart settles into a still image after a few gentle pulses, and if your device is set to reduce motion, animations are replaced with still images.
- Sign in your way. No puzzle CAPTCHAs, and password managers and pasting work in every password field.
- Simple forms. You pick your birthday from menus, and the Love Test works fully with a keyboard.
- Video with words. Members can add a typed transcript to their 30-second video, and videos never play on their own. Any video we publish ourselves will have captions.
- Emoji with meaning. Emoji come with plain-English names for screen readers.
- Help in the same place. Help and safety links sit in the same spot on every page.
Known limitations
- Member content. Photos, videos and bios come from members. We encourage image descriptions and video transcripts, but we can't guarantee every member adds them.
- Other companies' pages. Payment checkout pages, event ticket pages and other websites we link to are run by other companies, and their accessibility is outside our control.
- Still testing. My420Love is new. We're testing with assistive technologies before launch, and we'll fix what we find. [DAWN: consider an independent accessibility audit before launch.]
How we test
[ENGINEERING: list the browsers and assistive technologies used in testing, for example Safari with VoiceOver on iPhone, Chrome with TalkBack on Android, and a desktop screen reader on Windows.]
